PlayStation 5 sales exceed 5 million units since its launch

sales have achieved a new milestone, as the console manufacturer announced that it has sold 50 million consoles since its launch in late 2020.

The number shows how much PS5 sales have increased, as Sony announced in July that it had sold more than 40 million units, and this likely has something to do with the increased availability of the PS5 after supply chain issues led to a decrease in the number of consoles on store shelves, according to the engadget report.

“We are grateful to all of our players who have joined the PS5 journey so far, and we are thrilled that this is the first holiday season since launch where we have a full stock of PS5 consoles, so anyone who can get their hands on one can get one,” said Jim Ryan, the company’s president and CEO. Statement I can have one.”

The PS5 reached 50 million sales just one week slower than the PS4, but it's still an impressive feat given the limitations.

As noted by the Financial Times, Ampere Analysis data reveals that PlayStation sales rose 65% to 22.5 million units this year, outpacing Switch and Xbox sales, which fell by 18% and 15%, respectively.

This indicates that the company is on track to achieve its goal of shipping 25 million consoles by March 2024.
